A solution to Exercise 4.4 is given under Exercises

The final curriculum is now given under Syllabus/achievement requirements . (It was originally announced that parts of chapter 6 was included in the curriculum. This is no longer the case.)

The project exam will be handed out Friday November 14th, and should be handed in no later than Friday November 28th at 2 p.m.

The trial project , given for week 44, gives a nice illustration on the practical use of a number of the statistical methods in chapters 3 and 4, and it illustrates how the project exam may look like. The students should make an extra effort to do the trial project, and those who are interested may hand it in for correction. The deadline is Tuesday November 4th. Comments on the solution of the trial project will be given in week 45.

At the last lectures I forgot to distribute copies to those of you who have not yet got hold of the textbook. But here are pdf-files of section 4.1 and the exercises to chapter 4 . (The pdf-files will be removed after the next lectures.)

Exercise 3.12, given for week 42, gives a nice illustration on the use of a number of the theoretical results on counting processes and martingales. The students should make an extra effort to do this exercise, and those who are interested may hand it in for correction. A solution to the exercise will be given in week 43.

In weeks 39, 40, and 41 one hour (from 14.15 to 15.00) will be added to the regular teaching hours in order to compensate for the time lost in week 37.

The textbook for the course should now be available in Akademika (the bookstore on campus).

The exam in STK4080 will consist of a project paper followed by a written exam. The written exam will take place Wednesday 10 December, 14.30-17.30.

Starting week 35, the lectures and exercise classes will be moved to Fridays 10.15-12.00 and 13.15-14.00, respectively. Both the lectures and the exercise classes will take place in seminar room B81 at the 8th floor of NH Abel's house.

The first lectures in STK4080 will take place Wednesday 20th August 9.15-11 and 12.15-13 in seminar room B63 on the 6th floor in Niels Henrik Abel's building ("the mathematics building"). As the course book by Aalen, Borgan & Gjessing is just recently published and is not likely to be available in the bookstore at that time, copies of the first chapter of the book will be distributed at the lectures.
