Important about team in Teams

In addition to the guide above, you should also consider:

  1. For easy collaboration with files over Teams we recommend creating a MS Teams room. Then you automatically get Sharepoint folders under the Files banner. It is a lot easier to invite external participants with MS Teams than with Sharepont, and it is a bit more difficult to create a Teams room after you first create a Sharepoint area. This is a better solution than to collaborate with others by going diectly to Sharepoint via Office 365 instead of MS Teams. 
  2. When you create a Team at UiO, choose the alternative Annet/Other when you choose which team you want to create. You do not have to consider the text below. Teams contains some standard templates made for primary school. These templates are best used there.
  3. When you are about to join a Team and have received a code, click the same button you would do when you create your own team and fill in the code.
  4. You must choose if the team should be private (only team owners can add members), or public. You can also use an existing group as a template if you wish.
  5. The owner of the room can delete it. Make therefore sure that the person who gets the owner role is aware of this. If the owner has quit it is possible for the IT department to add a new owner. 
  6. All who are part of a team has access to the file area connected to the team. If you want to limit availability to only parts of the team, you have to create a sub channel, and limit it to the people you add when you create it.
  7. When someone from a different institution, for example from one of the other Universities in Norway, wants to invite you as an UiO user to their Teams room, they should use yourusername@uio.no in the invitation.
  8. When you have closed a room, but want to add many participants, it is advised that you use a code to let people become a member of the team. An example would be all students in a given subject. Take a look at the guide for managing many users in an Team.
  9. Owners of a team can change the privacy settings for the team from public to private, or vice versa. Find out how.
