We are required to arrange a meeting to evaluate the course. It has to be after the exam, so that this can also be evaluated. I thought that the simplest is if we have it just after the exam finishes, so the meeting will be in the usual Thursday lecture room (LilleFy) on Thursday December 5. at 13:15. It should not last very long time, but 30 min passes very fast in my experience. I hope that many of you will have time to come, it is very useful for us to understand what works well with a course, and what should be changed.

On Tuesday, November 26. at 12:15 (usual time and place) we will have the final lecture. I will not cover any new material, but summarize main points and answer any questions that you may have. If you have questions in advance, send them to me so I can prepare.
The results of the midterm exam are now posted on the webpage. We gave maximal 5 points on each question, and you find your score fore each question in the table as well as your total score. The maximal score was 110 points, and we have decided that all students who submitted a solution has passed the midterm exam and are allowed to continue to the final exam. Your score on the midterm will then be included when we determine the final grade.
Next week, on Tuesday 5/11, we will discuss protocols for quantum cryptography. To prepare, it is useful to understand something about classical codes, and as a challenge to you I have prepared a secret message that you have to decrypt:

As we discussed on Thursday, there was a suggestion that we create a Piazza page for the course.
You find the link on the course page, the access code is fys4110.
Ask, questions, answer questions or discuss whatever you think is relevant to the course.
In Problem 3 in the midterm exam there was a missing hbar in the Lindblad equation. I corrected it now
During our discussion today it became clear that there are some questions that few students have had time to think about yet, and which there might be some of you who would like to as about or discuss. We therefore agreed to have an additional meeting on Friday in room FV414 (physics building, 4. floor west) at 10:15. Otherwise, you can always send email or come to my office if you have problems (but I am absent the rest of the day today and all day tomorrow).
There was a misprint in problem 2a) in the sign in the exponentials. I have updated the file, so it should be correct now (on the homepage for sure, and I changed it also in Inspera, but I do not know if it is updated for exams that are already in progress, tell if you find taht it is still the old and different from the one on the homepage).
The exam questions are available from Monday October 14. at 8:00 in the morning. Answers have to be submitted in inspera by Monday October 21. at 12:00. The problems can be found in inspera, and will also be posted on the webpage. During the exam, we will not have any regular teaching, but I will come in the usual time and place for problem sessions on Wednesday October 16 to answer any questions you may have about the exam problems (but I will not give the answers to the problems). You may also contact me at any time if you have questions, and in particular if you find mistakes/misprints in the problem set.
Remeber that this week, I will give lectures all the three teaching hours (including the Wednesday 25/9).
Next week there will be problem solving classes all three days, in the usual lecture hours and places.
Next week, I will give lectures on Tuesday (10/9) and Wednesday (11/9), and the problem solving class will be on Thursday (12/9). Times and places are as usual.
