Join a Zoom meeting

If you don't have Zoom installed, please see our guide for getting started with Zoom.

Sign in with your UiO user account

IMPORTANT SECURITY MESSAGE: Log on to Zoom with your UiO user name and password. 

All students and staff at UiO are licensed to use the full version of Zoom, where privacy and security are better than the free version of Zoom, and UiO has made key settings to further enhance security. It is important that everyone at UiO installs Zoom and logs in with UiO username and password as described in the UiO Zoom installation guide.

If you have installed Zoom and are unsure if you are using the full version and are logged in as a UiO user, you can check it.

Join by invitation received in an email

You will receive an invitation by mail. Click on the link below "Join Zoom meeting"

Depending on your default web browser, you may be prompted to open Zoom. Click on "Open zoom.us".

 

If asked to log in, click the SSO button and give "uio" as company domain, as described in our login guide. 

When the Zoom software starts, you will be asked if you want to join the meeting. Here you can choose to join with or without video.

Join by Meeting ID

The e-mail invitation also contains the ¡°Meeting ID¡±. You'll find the meeting ID directly under the Join Meeting link we used in the previous guide. You'll need the Meeting ID if you want to join a meeting from the Zoom app, instead of clicking the Join Meeting link. 

To join by Meeting ID:

1. Open Zoom, and click Join on the start screen

2. Write or paste the meeting ID from the e-mail into the text box in the dialouge. Click the Join button in the dialouge, and you enter the meeting.
