Two-factor authentication in Educloud Research

You need to setup two-factor authentication in Educloud Research before you can log in. You set this up using ID-porten and an authenticator app on your phone.

If you don't have ID-porten, but need a (new) one-time code generator, please contact support at ec-drift@uio.no

First you need an authenticator app on your mobile device, for generating one-time codes. There are many such apps, but we recommend using Microsoft Authenticator.

In order to get the one-time codes for logging in to Educloud Research, you need to set up a connection between the authenticator app and Educloud Research. This is done by scanning a QR code that you get from the latter.

  1. Go to research.educloud.no/ via PC or tablet
  2. Choose Need a new one-time code? Image may contain: Font, Rectangle, Parallel, Screenshot.
  3. Log in through ID-porten
  4. Select Generate new QR-code. QR-code you get after you select "Generate a new QR-code"
  5. Open Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device
    • If you have not done this before, select Get started
    • If you have already used this authenticator app, click on the plus icon to add a new connection/two-factor code.
  6. Choose Scan a QR code. The camera on your phone should now open.
  7. Scan the QR-code from your PC/tablet.
    • The two-factor code for Educloud Research will now be added to the bottom of the list in your autenticator app (not necessarily with that exact name).
    • The autenticator app will generate one-time codes every 30 seconds.
